PHOTOS: Over 100 Firemen Battled Hopyard Fire
Crews from 25 fire departments and the DEEP were called in to Devils Hopyard State Park this week to assist in a brush fire that burned for days.

Lack of precipitation during the winter, low humidity and high winds added fuel to the fire, allowing it to spread quickly. Hemlock in the Hopyard, according to the DEEP, were quickly consumed and added the fuel needed by the fire to continue to burn for days.
