Police: Higganum Man Arrested in Conjunction with Laundry Room Assault

Third degree assault, breach of peace, resisting arrest and criminal impersonation.

 

Three men were arrested early Friday morning after they allegedly randomly attacked a man in the laundry room at a Gravel Street apartment complex, Meriden Police said Monday.

An unnamed man was cleaning the laundry room at 120 Gravel Street at about 1:30 a.m. Friday, when two others came into the room, began talking to him and then started hitting him, Police spokesman Sgt. Darrin McKay said.

The alleged victim was able to get up and leave the room where he encountered a third man who also began assaulting him, McKay said. The attack knocked out the man's tooth and caused abrasions, according to Police. Despite his injuries, he denied medical help at the scene, McKay said.

Christopher Bartlett, 27, of 175 Tryon St., Middletown, and Brandon Scozzari, 19, of 43 Casimir Dr., in Meriden were charged with third degree assault, conspiracy to commit assault in the the third degree, and breach of peace in the incident.

Michael Allocca, 26, of 17 White Birch Terrace, Higganum, was arrested on the same charges plus interfering with/resisting arrest and criminal impersonation for, McKay said, giving a false name when he was arrested. When police fingerprinted Allocca they discovered his real identity and that he was wanted on two warrants for probation violation.

According to State Judicial Records, the three men were not released from police custody and are all awaiting a Jan. 10, 2012 court date on the charges. Allocca has additional court dates set for the probation violation charges.
