Portion Of East Haddam Road Washed Away By Storm: Report
A portion of a road in East Haddam was washed away by Tuesday's powerful storm.

HADDAM, CT — A portion of a road in East Haddam was washed away by Tuesday's powerful storm, which during which nearly 8 inches of rain caused flooding in the area, according to media reports. Located on Neptune Avenue, the section of road was built over a culvert, however it was not an actual bridge.
According to News 8, a 20-foot deep ravine was left where the road once was following Tuesday's heavy rains. The collapse happened at approximately 8:30 p.m. that night.
Nearby properties were covered in pavement and water as a result of the incident, according to Fox 61. In one instance, a resident's cars, shed and sculptures were sent floating away by water from the storm.

Town crews worked quickly to secure the road, and as a result nobody was hurt, News 8 reported. Several dirt roads in town were also washed out as a result of the storm.
