I love all the design elements going on in this picture (New England Home Magazine). What are you noticing? How many different ideas do you get when you look at this picture? This shows a fun use of color as well as how to work in a small space.
First, I love the color! The red, and where it is used, really draws your eye in. Note how the back of the shelves are painted the same bright color as the the seating. The white accent paint offsets the red beautifully! Second, the seating area is terrific! If you have a small space with lots of people, the built in bench seating can be a wonderful and inexpensive way to go! In addition, they have added two ottoman style "cubes". The fabric adds fun to the area as well as being a practical way to add seating and not take up space!! I love how they tuck under the table!
Hope this helps you when you are looking at your kitchen and thinking its too small!! A little imagination, some work, and using fun colors can give your eating area a lot of pizzaz - as well as be practical! Have fun! j
