Rare Venture Smith Book To Be Displayed By East Haddam Historical Society
The East Haddam Historical Society will unveil an original 1798 Venture Smith book later this month.

EAST HADDAM, CT - The East Haddam Historical Society will unveil an original 1798 Venture Smith book later this month, the Middletown Press reported. This rare autobiographical story will be available for the public to peruse on May 27.
The story is an original copy of the 1798 pamphlet “A Narrative of the Life and Adventures of Venture, a Native of Africa, but Resident Above Sixty Years in the United States of America, Related by Himself,” according to the Middletown Press. Reprinted copies will be on sale at the East Haddam Historical Society, the Middletown Press reported. Those interested can also purchase copies at the First Church of Christ cemetery during Venture Smith Day on September 9.
