Reward Offered for Slain Alpacas, Breach of Peace, Possession of Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia

Haddam area police activity reports.

 

The Haddam Resident Troopers' Office and the Connecticut State Police, Troop F in Westbrook report the following incidents: 

IMPROPER USE OF REGISTRATION PLATE AND OPERATING AN UNREGISTERED MOTOR-VEHICLE - On Dec. 17, Angela Markham, 47, of 30 Banner Road, Moodus was observed by Middletown Police while driving along South Main Street in Middletown without a front marker plate on her vehicle. Markham was issued infractions for the above violations.

BREACH OF PEACE - On Dec. 19, Cameron Bailey, 20, of 33 Gulf Quarry Road, Haddam was arrested by Middletown Police and charged with 2nd-degree breach of peace. Bailey had reportedly been involved in a verbal altercation that turned physical at the Stop N' Shop on East Main Street in Middletown, the incident being recorded on store surveillance cameras (see ). Bailey was released on a promise to appear in court and was given a court date of 1/4/12 at Middlesex Superior Court in Middletown.

POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA AND POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA - On Dec. 19 at approximately 2:11 p.m., Tyler Witkowski, 20, of 78 Norwich-Salem Road, East Haddam was observed by State Police at the Mobil gas station in Tylerville. Police say he had appeared to be engaged in a drug transaction and subsequent investigation revealed marijuana and drug paraphernalia in his vehicle. Witkowski was arrested and transported to Troop F for processing. He was released on a $500 bond and scheduled to appear at Middlesex Superior Court on 1/3/12.

ALPACAS KILLED ON NEARBY ESSEX FARM - On Dec. 23, State Police launched a criminal investigation into the violent killing of (4) Alpacas at Applesauce Acres farm on Bushy Hill Road in the Ivoryton section of Essex (see ). Several other animals on the premises were unharmed, but police are pursuing leads and are asking anyone who may have any information on this case, or may have seen anyone or anything that looked suspicious during the time period of Thursday night, Dec. 22 through the early morning hours of Friday, Dec. 23, to contact Essex Resident Trooper Kerry Taylor at 860-767-1054 or the Connecticut State Police, Troop F at 860-399-2100.

The Applesauce Acres farm is currently offering a $2,500 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for this crime.
