Risk of Injury to a Minor, 3rd Degree Assault and Hot-Wired Vehicle
Haddam area police activity reports for this week.

The Haddam Resident Troopers' Office and the Connecticut State Police, Troop F report the following incidents:
CRIMINAL MISCHIEF, BREACH OF PEACE, AND ASSAULT - On July 5, Laurie Batter, 50, of 65 North Moodus Road, Moodus was arrested and charged with 3rd-degree criminal mischief, breach of peace and 3rd-degree assault, following a disturbance at the medical clinic on Westbrook Road in Essex.
MOTOR-VEHICLE ROLL-OVER - On July 9 at approximately 2:00 p.m., Paula Benitez-Wohlstrom, 26, of Killingworth Road, Higganum, was traveling eastbound on Beaver Meadow Road near the intersection of Woods Road in Haddam, driving a 1997 Volkswagen Cabrio. Benitez-Wohlstrom lost control of the vehicle and struck a curb on the opposite side of the roadway, causing it to roll over onto it's roof. Police say she was wearing a seatbelt at the time and only sustained minor injuries. Benitez-Wohlstrom was issued an infraction for traveling too fast for conditions.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT, RISK OF INJURY TO A MINOR AND THIRD-DEGREE ASSAULT - On July 10, State Police were called to investigate a case of domestic violence at a Main Street, Durham address. Stacey Griesch, 45, of 227 Main Street, Durham, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and risk of injury to a minor. George Proto, 45, of 424 Foothills Road, Haddam, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, risk of injury to a minor and 3rd-degree assault.
TWO-CAR MOTOR-VEHICLE ACCIDENT - On July 12 at approximately 4:06 p.m., David Fitzpatrick, 47, of Hayden Hill Road, Haddam, and driving a 2010 Ford f-350, was stopped in the left-turning lane of I-95 northbound at exit 65, waiting at a red light. Fitzpatrick was struck from behind by a 1990 Honda Accord, driven by Lino Montealegre, 41, of Poplar Street, New Haven. No injuries were reported.

INTERFERING WITH POLICE AND EVADING THE SCENE OF AN ACCIDENT - On July 15, John Rucker, 20, of 26 Killingworth Road, Haddam was charged with the above, after being involved in a motor vehicle accident on Route 154 at the intersection of Route 81. Rucker had originally fled the scene of the accident, but was identified by three separate witnesses as having been the operator of the vehicle, and was later located and arrested by police.
BURGLARY AND ATTEMPTED LARCENY - On July 15, sometime between 12:04 a.m. and 1:00 a.m., three suspects entered the East Coast Auto Salvage on Killingworth Road in Higganum. The suspects had reportedly hot-wired a vehicle and loaded it with 50 recycled batteries and attempted to break through the main entrance. BURGLARY AND LARCENY - On July 16, Cromwell Police arrested Richard Gilbert, 45, of 93 Bamforth Road, Haddam, and Kevin Harris, 32, of 9 Highland Terrace, Ivoryton, and charged each of them with 3rd-degree burglary and 6th-degree larceny, based on an investigation by police involving stolen scrap metal from a bulk-waste container and bicycles from a residence on Nooks Hill Road in Cromwell. Gilbert and Harris were each held in lieu of $5,000 surety bonds and given court dates of 7/26/11 at Middlesex Superior Court in Middletown.
