Sam Forman will discuss the writing of young adult historical fiction and his new book Twenty-One Heroes. Why do compelling characters and fictional story lines continue to fascinate when set against often well known and important historical events? What are the differences between fact and fiction as experienced by an author creating in both fields? Join Sam Forman for an author talk and book signing at Killingworth Library on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at 7 PM.

Outspoken colonial teen Katherine supports the patriot cause with conviction, intelligence, and poise, inspiring the respect of many and the affections of two very different college students—Ezra and Joshua. While fighting, disease, unrest, and betrayal surround them, these young people suffer the additional pains of heartache and the longing for true love. Combining historical facts with modern sensibilities, Twenty-One Heroes is an engaging tale of adventure and romance.

Sam Forman is an historian, physician, and educator. Throughout careers as a physician, military officer, and businessman, he has published and lectured on historical topics that impact current issues. In addition to the young adult historical romance Twenty-One Heroes, he is the author of Dr. Joseph Warren: The Boston Tea Party, Bunker Hill, and the Birth of American Liberty, (Pelican, 2012). Dr. Forman lives in Brookline, Massachusetts.

The event is free but advance sign up is required. Please call the Killingworth Library at 860.663.2000 or visit www.killingworthlibrary.org for additional details.
