Police Identify Missing Teen Who Jumped Into CT River To Save Sister: UPDATE
Police said a 17-year-old Meriden boy is missing after jumping into the Connecticut River in Haddam to save his 19-year-old sister.

HADDAM, CT β Police said officers continued Monday afternoon to search for a teenager who went missing in the Connecticut River in Haddam. The teen has been missing since Sunday afternoon, according to a release.
Connecticutβs Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Environmental Conservation (EnCon) have identified the missing teen as Jay Agli, 17, of Meriden.
EnCon Police said the recovery effort will take place until sundown on Monday. State EnCon Police will then determine search plans for Tuesday. (To sign up for the Haddams and Killingworth breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

Police said the teen jumped into the river to save the teenager's 19-year-old sister and both were swept away by the current. The sister was picked up by a boater, but the 17-year-old remains missing.
State police said the sister was knocked off a sand bar at Haddam Meadows State Park into water that was over her head. She was taken by the current and was unable to get back, police said.

Authorities said the missing teen did not resurface and was not wearing a life jacket when he jumped in the water.
The Connecticut State Police Trooper One helicopter and the Connecticut State Police dive team were also requested at Haddam Meadows Boat Launch, State Police said.
