Sexual Assault Case at State Park Still Under Investigation
Police are waiting on the results of a DNA analysis to determine what exactly happened at Seven Falls State Park between the border of Haddam and Middletown.

Nearly two months ago, state police responded to a report of a sexual assault at in Higganum.
A Middletown man was detained that day, but not arrested, and that’s because of circumstances surrounding the alleged sexual assault, police said.
On June 6 state troopers from the Troop F barracks in Westbrook after police encountered a Higganum woman who claimed she was sexually assaulted there.

The woman was found walking down Old Saybrook Road, and police later located the man she accused at the park, said Trooper Enrico Milardo. Milardo said the man denied sexually assaulting the woman.
Police took DNA samples from both the man and the woman. Right now, Milardo said police are waiting on a forensic analysis of the DNA which may help explain what happened.

The case is still being treated as an isolated incident between the two parties.
On top of it all, as initially reported by police, narcotics were found at the scene as well. Both the suspect and the victim denied the drugs were theirs, although this portion of the case is also subject to the investigation, Milardo said.
