Snake Spotted In Higganum Not Dangerous: Report
A resident spotted the snake in the Village of Higganum.

HIGGANUM, CT — The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection’s Wildlife Division said a snake spotted Wednesday by a resident in Higganum is not considered dangerous, the Connecticut Post reported.
According to the Connecticut Post, the resident shared a picture of the snake to Twitter and asked what kind it was. A DEEP spokesman later confirmed the creature was an eastern hog-nose snake, which is not considered dangerous.
According to the DEEP website, the eastern hog-nose is a "medium-size stoutly built snake with a distinctive upturned rostral scale," which gives the appearance of an "upturned nose." These snakes are often found in very low population levels when compared to other snakes.
