The musical project was undertaken with permission from Connecticut state park officials and in cooperation with the Friends of Gillette Castle State Park.
The new folk/Americana artist said her January session with backup singers and a recording crew led by Thomas Blackland was especially enjoyable after a lengthy self-quarantine, especially because they could watch bald eagles soar over the nearby Connecticut River during breaks.
“What a special place,” Herscovitch said of the Castle and its environment. “As a proud Nutmeg State resident and former Connecticut State Troubadour, it makes me very happy to do my small part to shine a light on special resources and locations here.”
The popular tourist destination is nestled atop the “Seventh Sister” hill in the towns of East Haddam and Lyme along the Connecticut River, and is open daily from 8 a.m. until sunset.
The Friends of Gillette Castle State Park is a nonprofit, all-volunteer group dedicated to the preservation, conservation and educational activities of the building and its grounds. More information may be found at www.gillettecastlefriends.org.
