Stolen Jewelry and iPods

East Haddam Police Activity Reports, May 5 - 14

The East Haddam Police and The Connecticut State Police, Troop K, report the following incidents:

LARCENY - On May 5, The East Haddam Resident Troopers' Office was called to investigate an incident involving jewelry stolen from a residence on Ballahack Road in East Haddam.

LARCENY FROM A MOTOR-VEHICLE - The East Haddam Resident Troopers' Office is investigating the theft of two iPods from a vehicle on Warner Road in East Haddam, that reportedly took place in the early morning hours of Friday, May 6th. Police say that several other vehicles on Warner Road were also entered on the same night. Anyone with possible information that could help this investigation is asked to contact the office, at 860-873-1226.

SEXUAL ASSAULT AND HARASSMENT - On May 9, Richard Carpenter, Jr, 21, of 209 Petticoat Lane, East Haddam, was arrested on an outstanding warrant and charged with second-degree sexual assault and second-degree harassment. Carpenter was released on a $10,000 bond, and given a court date of 5/10/11 at Middletown Superior Court.

MOTOR-VEHICLE ACCIDENT - On May 9, at approximately 6 a.m., Margaret Vansteenburgh, 52, of Scoville Landing, Moodus, was traveling northbound on Route 149 in Moodus, in a 2003 Audi A-6 in the area of Andrews Road. Vansteenburgh lost control of her vehicle and went off the roadway, striking a street sign and a dirt embankment. She was transported to the Middlesex Hospital Emergency Clinic in Marlborough for evaluation and the vehicle was towed from the scene.

TWO-CAR MOTOR-VEHICLE ACCIDENT - On May 10, at approximately 6 p.m., George Perham, 35, of Alger Road, Moodus, was traveling westbound on Alger Road in East Haddam, in a 2007 Honda Element. After stopping for a stop sign and attempting a right turn onto East Haddam-Colchester Turnpike, Perham reportedly struck a vehicle driven by Dennis O'Mara, 53, of Sheepskin Hollow Road, East Haddam, who had been traveling northbound on East Haddam-Colchester Turnpike. No injuries were reported. Perham was issued an infraction for failure to grant the right-of-way at an intersection.


BREACH OF PEACE - On May 14, Whitney Davis, 20, of 47 Beech Ave., East Haddam, was arrested on an outstanding warrant and charged with breach of peace.The charge was as a result of an altercation that had occurred on 3/22/11 in the parking lot of Stop & Shop, 99 Linwood Ave., in Colchester. Davis was released on a $3,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Norwich Superior Court on 5/26/11.

DOMESTIC DISPUTE - On May 14, Kyle Paluha, 19, of 94 Town Farm Road, East Haddam, was arrested at his residence and charged with disorderly conduct and interfering with police. Paluha was released on a $500 bond and was given a court date of 5/16/11 at Middletown Superior Court.
