Take a Walk through History at the East Haddam Historical Society Museum

Memorial Day marks the opening day of the East Haddam Historical Society Museum for the summer season.

A poignant path through the Memorial Garden on the way to the main entrance of the East Haddam Historical Society and Museum gives visitors the opportunity to meander through local horticulture while quietly reflecting on the names lovingly preserved on the path's stone pavers.

And thus begins the journey where local history comes alive through photos,  life-sized displays, portraits, detailed maps, costumes, postcards, antique tools and other historic paraphernalia housed at the museum.

Within the museum, visitors are cordially invited to bear witness to a late 18th century wedding that took place at St. Stephen's Church as guests hobnob with historical local families and learn about their ties to the CT River Valley.
Meet German-born Heinz Warneke, American sculptor, whose prototype for the "Last Supper" tympanum at the Washington D.C. Cathedral stands proudly as the focal point of an addition made to the museum in the year 2000.
