The museum was dedicated in the spring of 1965 as a gift from Isaac Arnold of Houston, Texas. Mr. Arnold, a descendant of original proprietor Joseph Arnold, donated the house to “conserve the tangible assets that are the heritage of Haddam History” and it became the home of the Haddam Historical Society. In 1973 the Wilhelmina Arnold Barnhart Garden was dedicated by Mr. Arnold in honor of his daughter. The museum has hosted visitors from around the world over the past 50 years as well as local residents and most area school children. We are honored to be a part of The Connecticut Women’s Heritage Trail and a member of Connecticut’s Historic Gardens. Please come out and enjoy one of our town’s most treasured landmarks.
