Tractor-Trailer Downs Power Lines, DUI's and Disorderly Conduct
East Haddam area police activity reports.

The East Haddam Police and the Connecticut State Police, Troop K report the following incidents:
DISORDERLY CONDUCT - On July 31, Michelle Freda, 29, of 90 Highland Park Road, North Haven was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, as a result of a domestic violence incident. The incident took place on route 82. No additional location details were available. Freda was released on a $500 non-surety bond and given a court date of 8/1/11.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT - On July 31, Michael Ardito, 27, of 25 Eaton Street, North Haven was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, as a result of a domestic violence incident. The incident took place on route 82. No additional location details were available. Ardito was released on a $500 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear in court on 8/1/11.
TRACTOR-TRAILER vs. POWER LINES - On August 4 at approximately 2:41 p.m., Ralph Grant, 44, of King Court, Enfield, was traveling southeast on Hungerford Road, approaching the intersection of Mill Road in a 2003 International Tractor-Trailer when the truck made contact with some overhead power lines, pulling them down and causing a utility pole to crack. CL&P responded to the scene and made the necessary repairs. Police determined that the operator of the truck was not at fault, as the wires were at a level deemed to be 'lower than regulation.' No injuries were reported.
DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUGS - On August 5 at approximately 1:08 a.m., James Kelly, 39, of 146 Neck Road, Old Lyme, was traveling westbound on Route 156 in East Haddam when he failed to stop at a stop sign, crossed over Route 82 and struck a dirt embankment. Kelly was subsequently arrested and charged with failure to obey a stop sign and DUI. Minor injuries were reported. Police processed Kelly at Troop K and he was later released on a $1,500 non-surety bond. He is scheduled to appear in Middlesex Superior Court on 8/15/11.
DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUGS - On August 5 at approximately 1:41 a.m., a 17-year-old driver of Glastonbury was traveling southbound on Leesville Road in Moodus, when she lost control of a 1996 Volvo-850 and struck a tree. The juvenile was arrested and charged with making an improper turn and DUI, transported to the Marlborough Emergency Medical Clinic for treatment of minor injuries and given a court date of 8/22/11 at Rockville Juvenile Court.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT AND THIRD-DEGREE ASSAULT - On August 5 at 12:30 p.m., State Police were dispatched from the East Haddam Resident Troopers' office to investigate a disturbance at a residence on Robbie Road in Moodus. Jordan Slomkowski, 18, of 9 Robbie Road was arrested and charged with the above as a result of a reported domestic incident with a family member. Slomkowski was processed at Troop K and later released on a $500 non-surety bond. He was given a court date of 8/8/11 at Middlesex Superior Court in Middletown.
DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUGS - On August 6 at approximately 1:14 a.m., William Schumacher, 62, of 60 Mott Lane, Moodus was arrested and charged with DUI. Schumacher was released on a $500 bond and scheduled to appear in Norwich Superior Court on 8/16/11.
