East Haddam & Moodus area police activity reports
The East Haddam Police and the Connecticut State Police, Troop K in Colchester report the following incidents:
RECKLESS DRIVING - On Dec. 31 at approximately 11:12 a.m., Hayden Cavallari, 19, of Longwood Drive, Colchester was traveling westbound on Mount Parnassus Road in East Haddam, operating a 2002 Toyota Corolla. Police said that, as Hayden was passing traffic in a no-passing zone, he had swerved to avoid striking a vehicle head-on. As he swerved back into the westbound lane, Cavallari then struck Linda Bradshaw, 64, of East Haddam-Moodus Road, Moodus who was driving a 2013 Toyota Rav-4. No injuries were reported, but police arrested Cavallari and charged him with Reckless Driving. Cavallari was given a court date of 1/14/15 at Middletown Superior Court.
UNDERAGE DRINKING PARTY - On Dec. 31 at approximately 10:32 p.m., State Police were dispatched to a residence on Beebe Road in East Haddam for a possible medical assist. A subsequent investigation determined that a group of youths under the age of 21 were in possession of and had consumed alcoholic beverages. Enforcement action was taken against the homeowner and several of the youths.

FAILURE TO APPEAR IN COURT - On Jan. 2 at approximately 10:20 a.m., Devin Birch, 23, of Horse Pond Road, Salem turned herself in to Troop K, based on an active warrant related to a previous incident which included charges of 3rd-Degree Assault and Disorderly Conduct that had occurred on Grist Mill Road in Moodus. Birch was processed and released on a court-set Written Promise to Appear. She was given a court date of 1/5/15 at Middletown Superior Court.
