VIDEO: Message to Union Members
Urging fellow union members to vote "yes" on SEBAC's tentative agreement with the state.
State employees who operate the historic Chester-Hadlyme and Rocky Hill-Glastonbury ferries joined local community members at the Hadlyme Public Hall on Tuesday night to discuss "why they are supporting the revised SEBAC tentative agreement to protect their jobs, preserve vital benefits, maintain negotiating rights and preserve public services."
Tom Darcy, Chester-Hadlyme Ferry Captain and Ron McLellan, President of the Connecticut Employees Union Independent, SEIU Local 511, CTW made a plea to fellow union members to vote "yes" in support of SEBAC's tentative agreement with the State of Connecticut.
The discontinuation of the state's ferries were originally part of Governor Malloy's broader effort to close a $1.6 billion shortfall in his two-year budget if an agreement can not be reached with the unions. The negotiations with the unions are still ongoing.
