
The Town Office Building in Haddam closed for the morning and part of the afternoon today because of a water line break in the nearby Town Hall.
People showing up to conduct town business were greeted by a sign taped to the building’s window saying it was closed until 1 p.m.
The Town Hall and the Town Office Building share water service and when workers arrived at the Town Office Building in the morning they discovered that there was no water service.

Further investigating revealed the water wasn’t working because of a leak in a water line in the nearby Town Hall. The Town Hall no longer houses the town’s administrative offices, but is used only for occassional meetings.
Without water, the Town Office Building could not remain open, town officials said. It was closed until 1 p.m., when the water problem was fixed.
