Weapons In A Motor Vehicle, 15-Year-Old Charged With Breach Of Peace

East Haddam Police Activity Reports, April 3-9

The East Haddam Police, and The Connecticut State Police, Troop K, Colchester, report the following incidents:

DISORDERLY CONDUCT - On April 5, Joseph Wright, 38, of 12 Westwood Drive, Moodus, was charged with disorderly conduct, as a result of a domestic dispute.

WEAPONS IN A MOTOR VEHICLE AND BREACH OF PEACE - On April 7, police received several complaints of possible narcotics activity in the parking lot at the 7-11 convenience store on Falls Road in Moodus. After conducting a patrol check of the area and a vehicle search, police discovered a double-edged, stiletto-style knife in the center console of a car. Subsequently, Keith Obriant, 18, of 129 Leesville Road, Moodus, was charged with possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle. A 15-year-old juvenile passenger was also arrested, pursuant to an unrelated outstanding warrant, on a breach of peace charge.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUGS AND TRAVELING UNREASONABLY FAST - On April 8, while police were conducting routine speed enforcement on Mount Parnassus Road in East Haddam, a vehicle was observed traveling eastbound and was clocked on radar at 55 mph in a posted 35 mph zone. The vehicle then continued onto Warner Road, where police conducted a stop. Sandra Kersell, 53, of 20 Woodmont Drive, East Haddam, whom after admitting to consuming alcoholic beverages prior to being stopped by police, failed a field sobriety test. Kersell was then transported to the Connecticut State Police, Troop K, without incident and arrested on the above charges.

MOTORCYCLE OFF THE ROAD - On April 9, at approximately 12:29 p.m., Brian DeBlasiis, 25, of Fencove Court, Old Saybrook, was traveling southbound on Town Street in East Haddam, when he reportedly struck a ditch on the side of the roadway, causing him to lose control of his 2011 Harley-Davidson HD-Softail Fat Boy. DeBlasiis was transported to Hartford Hospital for medical evaluation and treatment.
