Emergency crews dealt with an out-of-control boat that cast threw to people overboard Monday morning.

EAST LYME, CT — Two people were thrown from an out-of-control boat and later picked up jet skiers in Niantic Bay off Black Point, according to police. At 5:30 a.m. Monday, the East Lyme Police Department marine unit, Niantic Fire Department , Goshen Fire Department, and United States Coast Guard responded to the call.

The boat the two people had been thrown from was still in motion, circling with no one onboard. Officers attempted to disable the motor and prop with a rope but were unsuccessful.

The marine unit operator was able to maneuver the police boat to a position from which another Officer was able to jump onto the out of control vessel and secure it.
