2019 Mosquito Control Program Announced For The Lymes
The free program is sponsored by the Ledge Light Health District.
THE LYMES, CT— From LLHD: Ledge Light Health District is providing mosquito consultation services, including on-site recommendations and mosquito dunks (larvacide) to residents in the District. This service is provided free of charge.
Mosquito dunks are a larvicide designed to treat mosquito-breeding sites to lessen the potential for the transmission of mosquito-borne diseases, including West Nile Virus, Eastern Equine Encephalitis and Zika Virus. They are safe for use around the home because they use a naturally occurring biological larvacidal.
Mosquitoes breed in standing water. Common locations of standing water are wetland areas, yard depressions, clogged rain gutters, garden containers, bird baths, used tires, and pool covers.

It is important to empty standing water on your property once a week to eliminate potential mosquito breeding. When standing water cannot be removed, using a larvicide will eliminate immature mosquitoes before they can mature into flying adults. Flying adults are much more difficult and costly to eliminate.
For no cost, Ledge Light Health District will provide to residents or homeowners associations:
