2nd Victim Killed In East Lyme Fire Identified: Police

The second victim who died in an East Lyme blaze on Friday has been identified by police.

EAST LYME, CT — The second victim in a house fire in East Lyme on Friday has been identified.

Otolegile Morulane, 46, was killed in the blaze. Morulane was from Botswana, according to police.

Previously, authorities released that Merril Lozanov, 95, was among the two people who died in the three-alarm fire reported on Willow Lane around 8 a.m.

Both died due to smoke inhalation and burn injuries.

The Flanders and Niantic fire departments both responded to the home when the fire reached a third alarm and a tanker task force was requested for water sources, Chief of Police Michael Finkelstein said.

When firefighters searched the home, they found two people inside. Lozanov was pronounced dead at the scene.

Morulane was taken to the hospital where and pronounced dead.

Both deaths were ruled accidental, authorities said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
