3 Juveniles Accused Of East Lyme Vehicle Thefts: Police

EAST LYME, CT — Three juveniles are accused of a string of thefts of both vehicles and valuables inside them, according to police.

The trio was identified after a multi-agency investigation, police said.

Local police recovered a stolen vehicle on Sunday, Aug. 23 in the area of Sunrise Avenue and Sea View Avenue.

The vehicle was unoccupied at the time. However, officers found evidence linking it to thefts from other unlocked vehicles in the neighborhood, according to police.

Investigators determined a Mercedes had also been stolen from a nearby driveway. A credit card stolen from that vehicle was used at a gas station on West Main Street, according to police.

Law enforcement found the stolen Mercedes in New Haven on Monday, Aug. 24.

Local police worked in conjunction with New Haven police.

East Lyme investigators reviewed video surveillance from the West Main Street gas station and were able to identify the three suspects, police said.

The three juveniles are facing charges related to possession of a stolen motor vehicle and larceny, according to police.

Police urged residents to take precautions to avoid becoming a victim, including locking vehicles, removing valuables, and never leaving keys or key fobs inside an unattended vehicle.
