Jump into Fall at the Lyme Art Association

This fall, the Lyme Art Association, (LAA), is presenting a wonderful array of events sure to inspire visitors. Programming includes lovely exhibitions of its member artists' work, inspiring adult arts education courses, a one-man play, and the return of Palate to Palette, LAA's arts fundraiser.

September begins with the wrap up of LAA's three summer shows, the 105th Elected Artists Exhibition, Expanding Visions, and the New Haven Paint & Clay Club Selected Members Exhibition on September 11. These are followed by the return of the lovely landscape show, New England Landscape and the appetizing Bon Appetit, which are on view September 18 – November 6. Wrapping up the year's exhibition season is the holiday favorite, Deck the Walls, along with Renaissance in Pastel, a guest show from the Connecticut Pastel Society; both go on view November 13.

Art students will find a cornucopia of courses for developing their practice. Options include learning foundational and fundamental art elements with Jeanne Carol Potter and Eileen Eder, plus there is an array of oil, watercolor, and pastel classes taught by Catherine Puccio, Michael Viera, Diana Rogers, Howard Park, and Lisa Miceli. Workshops include landscape painting with Zufar Bikbov, learning Sargent's painting techniques with Mike Laiuppa, and painting fearlessly with Bob Noreika. Looking for some seasonal fun? Jessica Daigle is teaching fall floral drawing and painting courses, while Dino Pulera demonstrates how to draw skulls. Plus, Hannah Cohen and Betsy Barry have great online drawing classes.

Along with its educational programs, LAA is presenting a one-man play performed by Ted Zalewski, called Van Gogh: A Portrait by The Postman Roulin on Saturday, September 26. On Thursday, October 15 is Palate to Palette, LAA's premier fundraiser for the arts with food, fun, music, and an art auction. And last, but not least, make fun seasonal art and hear live music at Pumpkin Day on Saturday, October 24.
