EAST LYME, CT — A massive storm that caused coastal flooding in Niantic led to a group of women needing to be rescued by backhoe Monday, according to FOX 61. The women were staying at a home on Crescent Beach for a weekend getaway.

One of the women woke up early Monday morning to find waves splashing up against the second floor. They called police, and East Lyme Public Works was dispatched.

The water was too deep for a pickup truck, so a backhoe was used to rescue some of the women.
