From Bacteria to Bald Eagles: All Things Estuary

Learn about Old Lyme's incredible natural environment at this FREE after school program!

The Old Lyme-Phoebe Griffin Noyes Library will hold “From Bacteria to Bald Eagles: All Things Estuary” sessions on Thursday, April 14 and Thursday, April 28 from 3:45-4:45PM. Kids in grades 3-6 are invited to get their hands dirty with Eleanor Robinson of the Roger Tory Peterson Estuary Center at our amazing five-week series! Using real examples from Old Lyme and the estuary of which it is part, each class will allow us to explore the science that surrounds us through concepts like biodiversity, water, migration, adaptation, soils and sand, and the watershed. This program meets Common Core standards. Don’t miss out! This program will meet on the following dates: 4/14, 4/28, 5/5, 5/12, and 5/19. Participants are not required to attend all sessions. Registration is required. Sign up online at www.oldlyme.lioninc.org under the “Children’s Program” tab or call the Library at 860-434-1684.

Need a ride? Simply indicate that your child will be taking the afterschool activity bus with the name of their school on our online registration form, then send a note to your child’s homeroom teacher giving them permission to ride the After School Activity Bus (Bus “A” for students from Mile Creek and Bus “C” for students from Lyme Consolidated). An adult will greet children at the corner of Lyme Street and Library Lane and then escort them into the building for the program. Please be advised that the afterschool activity bus will stop at the Library on program days only. Also, in addition to notifying the school, parents are required to call the Library directly at (860) 434-1684 if plans change the day of a program and your child is unable to ride the bus for any reason.
