Birth Of Baby In CT Jail Cell Prompts Investigation: Report
The inmate gave birth this week at the York Correctional Institution in Niantic.

NIANTIC, CT — An unnamed inmate at Niantic's York Correctional Institution gave birth to a child in her cell this week, a situation that immediately prompted an investigation by the state Department of Correction, reports the Connecticut Post.
Both the child and mother are reportedly in good health and were moved to a nearby hospital for evaluation. The state contracts with the University of Connecticut for inmate medical services.
As a result of the birth, two employees of UConn's Health, Correctional Managed Health Care program have been temporarily removed from the facility while the investigation progresses.
