The chairman of the board of the Lymes’ Senior Center would like to alert Lyme residents to an emerging phone scam she has personally experienced in recent days. Residents may receive automated calls that say their Social Security numbers are “being suspended” due to some criminal activity and ask that residents confirm or provide their Social Security numbers over the phone. This is a scam – hang up. The Social Security Administration does not do phone alerts.
