Where Small Town Magic Comes to Life! THREE&nbsp;DAYS of Family Fun!&nbsp; August 21, 22 and 23 This family-friendly fair showcases many agricultural fair traditions while highlighting top local music talent and entertainment. The intimate size of the fair makes for easy navigation, parking, and crowd control. Visitors will enjoy Carnival rides and games, food concessions, pony rides, and exhibits for farm animals, crafts, fruits, vegetables, and more. Participate in the kids’ games and contests on Saturday AND Sunday!

Brookside Farm Museum

Tending the Story: The Fabric of Our Lives."&nbsp; 19th century New England frothed over with cloth, from the madness for merino sheep to King Cotton spinning &amp; weaving through&nbsp;manufacturies like the satinett mill on Pattagansett Lake.&nbsp; Yet fabric from this era was carefully conserved, meticulously mended, and skillfully pieced, leaving us valuable lessons in sustainability &amp; creativity.&nbsp; Costumed Educators from the Dirty Blue Shirts will explore the textiles available to the Avery household &amp; their complex origin stories, discuss how stitches can become acts of craftivism &amp; self-expression, and practice a variety of making &amp; mending skills. This textile-themed living history event is set in the 1850s/1860s. Drop by at any time between 5:30 and 8:30 PM.&nbsp; Refreshments will be provided.&nbsp; A $10 donation is suggested to support Brookside.

Paint the Town: Plein Air Painting from Dawn to Dusk is the Lyme Art Association’s annual outdoor painting event, art sale and reception. It returns this year on Saturday, August 29 with the reception and sale at the Lyme Art Association (LAA) from 5 – 7 pm. 
LAA’s Paint the Town invites artists to plein air paint the towns of Old Lyme, Lyme, and East Lyme from dawn to dusk, and then bring their freshly finished works to LAA’s galleries for an art sale, reception, and awards ceremony. Additionally, the community is invited to the LAA galleries for the celebratory reception to meet the artists, view the artwork, enjoy hors d’oeuvres, listen to live music by the John Brown BackPorch Trio, and purchase a piece of art to take home. 
Paint the Town is Saturday, August 29 with plein air painting from dusk to dawn, and the art sale and reception going from 5 – 7 pm at the Lyme Art Association. For LAA Member Artists, the participating plein air painting fee is $30. The reception is open to the public, and a reception ticket is $10 per person. Lyme Art Association

Lyme Art Association (LAA) is proud to announce&nbsp;New England Landscape, its annual juried exhibition celebrating the rich and varied charm of the East Coast, where nature's artistry unfolds in breathtaking beauty. This gorgeous art show includes rolling hills covered with trees, lonely roads, cow-dotted farmlands, historical homes, and bustling townscapes, all done in various mediums that visually explore people’s connection to this extraordinary and gorgeous terrain.&nbsp;Running concurrently is&nbsp;Bon Appétit.&nbsp;This exhibition features sumptuous and delectable depictions of food meant to tantalize both visual and culinary senses with masterpieces featuring delicious looking food and vivid depictions of bustling farmers' markets and restaurants.&nbsp;New England Landscape&nbsp;and&nbsp;Bon Appétit&nbsp;are on view from September 18 - November 6, and the opening reception is Sunday, September 20 from 2 – 4 pm.&nbsp;New England Landscape&nbsp;is supported by Ascend Bank in partnership with the Community Foundation of Middlesex County.&nbsp;&nbsp;On Thursday, October 15, the Lyme Art Association is hosting its signature fundraising gala,&nbsp;Palate to Palette, from 6pm – 9 pm at its galleries in Old Lyme. This fun event features live music, sumptuous fine food from top regional restaurants and caterers, and a silent auction of new artwork created by LAA member artists. All proceeds go towards supporting the Lyme Art Association’s exhibitions and special projects, and ensure that this wonderful community of artists and art lovers continues to thrive. Tickets go on sale in September. $85 per person. RSVPs are required.
