Cause Of Death Revealed For 2 Killed In East Lyme House Fire
Merril Lozanov, 95, was among the two people who died in a three-alarm fire in East Lyme on Friday.

EAST LYME, CT — Two people killed in a Friday morning house fire in East Lyme died of smoke inhalation and burn injuries, authorities said in a Saturday update.
Merril Lozanov, 95, was among the two people who died in the three-alarm fire reported on Willow Lane around 8 a.m.
The Flanders and Niantic fire departments both responded to the home when the fire reached a third alarm and a tanker task force was requested for water sources, Chief of Police Michael Finkelstein said.

When firefighters searched the home, they found two people inside. Lozanov was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second victim was taken to the hospital where they were pronounced dead. Their name has not been released.

Both deaths were ruled accidental, authorities said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
