From local fields to national fame, these stars got their start in The Lymes.

Sports run deep in The Lymes, and East Lyme High School has long been at the heart of it. It’s no surprise some standout talent once wore the Warrior uniform. Today we're celebrating five unforgettable athletes from Chatsworth High School who made a name for themselves well beyond the hometown field.


1. John McDonald - Former World Series Champion

John McDonald was a professional baseball player and one of East Lyme High School’s most accomplished alumni. McDonald was an All-American and All-England honoree at UConn Avery Point and completed time at Providence College before being drafted. He is most notably known as an infielder for the Toronto Blue Jays, playing for over a decade, and a World Series Champion with the Boston Red Sox. (Sources: MLB, UConn Avery Point Athletics)


2. Pete Walker - Former MLB Pitcher/Current Pitching Coach

Former Major League Baseball pitcher Pete Walker is currently an MLB pitching coach. After excelling at East Lyme High School, Pete continued his success at UConn-Avery Point, leading the Huskies to the Big East Championship and becoming the first alum to reach the major leagues. Drafted in the seventh round, Pete pitched in the MLB for over seven seasons for multiple clubs. Pete is currently the pitching coach for the Blue Jays. (Sources: MLB, UConn Avery Point Athletics)

3. Carly Thibault-DuDonis - Collegiate All-Conference Member

Carly Thibault-DuDonis was a standout All-Conference honoree basketball player at East Lyme High School. She continued her career at Monmouth University, where she became a key player for the Hawks and earned third-team All-Northeast Conference honors. Carly is the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Fairfield University, elevating the program to national recognition. (Sources: Fairfield Stags)


4. Anna Johnson - Former All-State Diver

One of the more recent graduates, Anna Johnson made a name for herself as a talented diver at East Lyme High School, where she qualified for state-level competitions multiple times. She later competed at Pepperdine University, earning conference recognition and balancing athletics with strong academic performance, being named a two-time PCSC All-Academic. 5. Amy Parulis - Former Collegiate All-American Thrower

Amy Parulis excelled in track & field at East Lyme High School, earning All-American honors in events such as the javelin and hammer throw. She went on to the University of North Carolina (UNC), where she also achieved All-American honors, won medals in several large meets and became a standout in collegiate throwing events.
