Contractor Burglarized Home, Fled To Jamaica, East Lyme Police Say

A contractor has been charged after police say he burglarized a home he was working on, stealing $150,000 in cash along with jewelry.

EAST LYME, CT — A contractor who fled to Jamaica has been charged with burglary in East Lyme, according to police.

In November, a resident reported a burglary at their home in which $150,000 in cash and several pieces of jewelry were stolen.

Detectives identified a suspect who had previously completed contractor work at the home, police said.

Police secured an arrest warrant for Robert Millwood, 42, who lived in Maryland. When police attempted to interview him, he fled to Jamaica, according to police.

Homeland Security agents detained Millwood at a Baltimore airport when he returned to the U.S.

East Lyme police traveled to Maryland and took Millwood into custody on Wednesday.

He was charged with burglary and first-degree larceny. Millwood was held on $150,000 bond.
