Coyotes Move Into Downtown Niantic; Residents Frustrated: Report

A family of coyotes has moved into downtown Niantic, and some residents are calling for their removal.

EAST LYME, CT — A family of coyotes in Niantic is disturbing residents who said the animals pose a threat to the community, according to The New London Day. The coyotes have been spotted on Smith Street and in downtown.

The Waterford-East Lyme Animal Control Office has received numerous calls about coyotes around town, but First Selectman Kevin Seery said there have been no reports of the animals being aggressive toward humans, The New London Day reported.

The town will host a presentation by the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection on July 28 to come up with solutions.
