East Lyme 2019 Local Elections: Candidates, Polling Places, Hours

Here's what you need to know about Tuesday's 2019 East Lyme local elections including the candidates, polling places, voting hours and more.

EAST LYME, CT —As voters head to the polls Tuesday, Nov. 5 to vote in East Lyme’s municipal election, here's what you need to know.

There are a number of races including First Selectman, Selectman, boards of finance and education and planning and zoning commissions.

Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voters who are in line before 8 p.m. will be able to vote even after the deadline passes. You can find your poll location at the Secretary of the State website by inputting your information.

First Selectman
The candidates are Democrat Camille Alberti and Republican Mark C. Nickerson. Choose one.

Board of Selectmen
The candidates are Democrats Jason Harold Deeble, Daniel R. Cunningham, and Rose Ann Hardy. Republican candidates are Marc L. Salerno, Paul T. Dagle, and Kevin A. Seery. Voters pick three.

Board of Finance
The candidates are Democrats Ann M. Cicchiello, Richard Steel and Peter DeRosa. The Republican candidates are Matthew S. Kane and Lawrence W. Fitzgerald. Voters choose three

Board of Education
The candidates are Democrats Esteban Garcia, Catherine Steel, Barry Sheckley, and Jill S. Carini and Republicans Ryan M. Shrader, Eric A. Bauman, and Jaime Barr Shelburn. Voters choose five. (BoE alternate candidate is Timothy Hagen.)

Board of Assessment Appeals
The candidates are Democrats Michael Bekech and Aimee Cicchiello and Republicans Patrick Hughes and Suzanne Szupiany. Voters choose two.

Planning Commission
The candidates are Democrats Richard Gordon, Nichole A. Davison, and Michelle Royce Williams and Republicans David H. Schmitt and Donald D. Phimister. Candidates for vacancies and alternates are Democrats Peter Lynch, Brian Bohmbach and Elizabeth Allen and Republicans Mary Ann Salvatore, Rita Franco Palazzo and Griffin J. Woods.

Zoning Commission
The candidates are Democrats Terence P. Donovan, William Dwyer and Anne Thurlow and Republican George McPherson. The alternate candidates are Democrat Denise Markowitz and Republican Tracey Lizza.

What else you need to know

Connecticut offers Election Day registration, but those who arrive need to be registered by 8 p.m. in order to vote. Unlike previously registered voters standing in line before 8 p.m. to registrar won't guarantee the ability to vote.
