East Lyme Education Board Decides to Give Renovation Proposal More Time
The board decided more discussion was needed to assess a number of factors regarding a renovation proposal.

EAST LYME, CT- The Board of Education decided Monday that more time was needed for the elementary school renovation proposal, The Day reported.
It was decided that the proposal needed to be put on hold to allow for more planning and deliberations on how much the town can really afford, according to The Day. The board will take a vote at its July meeting on rescinding any past motions concerning the renovation proposal.
The board’s endorsed plan would fully renovate Lillie B. Haynes, refurbish Flanders Elementary School for up to $1.5 million and close Niantic Center School, as reported by The Day. Many ways of balancing the costs associated with the proposal were discussed, and will be further talked about at the July meeting.
