East Lyme Man Charged In Battery Of His Infant Twins: Police
Torin Ruleman, 19, was charged with several felonies after 4-week-old infants were found with a combined 21 fractures, East Lyme police say.

EAST LYME, CT — A 19-year-old East Lyme man was charged with the battery of his four-week-old twins, who suffered numerous fractures, police said.
Last month, the East Lyme Police Department was contacted by a medical office in Old Saybrook,
reporting about infants with physical injuries treated at the location, according to a police report.
Torin Ruleman, who was arrested Monday, was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree assault with intentional physical injury, and two counts of risk of injury to a child. He was held on $200,000 bail.

In response to Patch questions, East Lyme Police Chief Michael Finkelstein said their mother is not being charged "at this time."
During the investigation, the report reads, detectives determined that one infant "had 13 fractures on different parts of its body in various stages of healing, while the other had eight." According to the report, the infant twins were taken to the Yale New Haven Hospital emergency department in New Haven.

Finkelstein said that it's his understanding that the infants are currently in "good condition" and in the custody of the state Department of Children and Families.
