East Lyme Man Credits Neighbors For Saving His Life: Report

When an East Lyme man collapsed from a heart attack, his neighbors sprang into action.

EAST LYME, CT — An East Lyme man credits his neighbors for saving his life when he suffered a massive heart attack while he was on a run earlier this month, according to The Day. Carlos Salazar said he was out for a one-mile jog in his neighborhood when cardiac arrest struck and he momentarily died.

Three neighbors—Jem Genta, Mark Gleeson, and Christal Cupp—rushed to his side, applying chest compressions and breathing air into his lungs. Salazar, 53, a father of six, was transported to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital and is now at home recovering.
