EAST LYME, CT — First Selectman Mark C. Nickerson has postponed Halloween until Saturday Nov. 2. It appears by a number of comments on his "official" announcement on social media that folks are not thrilled. And some are questioning the authority under which the mayor can "cancel" a holiday.
"Absolutely ridiculous! When did Halloween and Trick or Treating become a town led event?"
"...exactly! Its a holiday! Like they can postpone Christmas because of a blizzard I don't think so."

"Wow. Very disappointing. Sorry to see EL going in this direction. Exactly why is this a governmental decision? Shouldn't this type of thing be decided by the parents? SMH"
But others said it is not that big of a deal.
