East Lyme PD Seeks Help Catching Credit Card Thief

The perpetrator stole the cards from a wallet on Sunday, April 8.

EAST LYME, CT — Someone stole credit cards from a wallet in East Lyme on April 8, and police are asking for the public's help in catching the thief.

The wallet was taken from a vehicle parked at the Sportsmen's Club on Plants Dam Road sometime between 1:15 p.m. and 2:15 p.m., according to authorities. Within minutes, the thief began making illegal charges with the cards at the East Lyme Stop & Shop and the Mobil gas station at exit 74 on I-95.

"Because of the immediate use of the credit cards we assume that a vehicle was involved," wrote police in a statement. "If anyone has video surveillance at their homes that may have collected anything of value such as a vehicle or observed any suspicious activity during the times in question please Detective Comeau or Officer Cutillo."
