East Lyme Police Issue Warning After Car Break-Ins

Police are reminding residents to lock their cars and bring their keys inside.

EAST LYME, CT — Police are reminding residents to lock their cars and bring the keys inside after residents' cars were stolen Wednesday night.

"Last night EL residents as well as neighboring towns fell victim to having their vehicle stolen," police wrote in a Facebook post. "Some vehicles, while not stolen, were found unlocked and items that were left inside were taken."

Police also wrote: "As convenient as it might be to leave those keys in the cup holder so you’re not looking for them as you run out the door in the morning for work; that makes it just as convenient and simple for the ones out at night looking for a free car."
