East Lyme Public Library's Homebound Delivery Service A Continuing Success

East Lyme Library helps the homebound.

In January, 2015, the East Lyme Public Library announced its new program of Homebound Delivery Service to local home bound seniors. The program was conceived and organized by Jean Jones, the Homebound Delivery Service Coordinator and Head of Circulation at the Library.

The program now has a total of eleven volunteers who deliver books to the various housing communities in town. In the past three months, the library circulated 137 books to the home bound patrons.

The new library outreach program is receiving rave reviews from the folks who are enjoying the door-to-door service. One patron said that she felt she “had been sprung from jail” with this new access to reading materials. The volunteers are equally excited with the new program and are experiencing a great sense of fulfillment by serving our local home bound seniors.

New potential participants can call the library at 860-739-6926 and ask for Ms. Jean Jones for more information. The library is pleased to be able to offer this outreach to the homebound community.
