East Lyme School Board to Seek State Reimbursement for Elementary Schools Proposal

The move comes after an approval by the Board of Selectmen.

EAST LYME, CT- The Board of Selectmen approved a resolution Wednesday that would allow the school board to seek out partial reimbursement for its elementary schools construction proposal from the state, The Day reported.

The Board of Education’s plan calls for renovating the Lillie B. Haynes School as new for $45.06 million, according to The Day. The renovations are estimated to cost the town, after state reimbursement, approximately $34.25 million.

The board voted for the resolution 4-2, with only one Selectman and one Selectwoman casting opposing votes, according to The Day. Meanwhile, the Board of Education is expected to present a formal plan to selectmen later in the summer.
