Guilty Plea Tossed Out by Judge in Fatal East Lyme Overdose Case

The suspect had previously pleaded guilty to distribution of heroin, for which he faced up to 27 months in prison.

EAST LYME, CT - A federal judge has tossed out the guilty plea of the suspect in an East Lyme fatal overdose case, the New London Day reported.

Christopher Stevens, 26, was scheduled to be sentenced Wednesday, April 12, for selling heroin with fentanyl to 25-year-old Fred Pardini, according to the New London Day. Pardini died of an overdose in June 2016. (To sign up for the Lymes breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

The judge also sent a memo scolding the U.S. Attorney's Office for failing to respect the rights and interests of the victim's family, the New London Day reported. Stevens had previously pleaded guilty in January to distribution of heroin, for which he faced 21 to 27 months in prison.
