Author Eric Lehman will speak about his book and discuss how Arnold's treachery crossed the line to terrorism.

Eric Lehman, author of Homegrown Terror: Benedict Arnold and the Burning of New London, will speak at the Lyme Public Library Thursday, November 5 at 7:00 P.M. Lehman is a travel and history writer, and director of creative writing at the University of Bridgeport.

Lehman’s book chronicles how Arnold crossed the line and went from traitor to Terrorist when on September 6, 1781, he and 1,600 British soldiers and loyalists overtook Fort Griswold in Groton and burned the settlement of New London to the ground. “Remember New London” became a rallying cry for colonial troops, and Lehman evaluates the effect this event had on the psyche of Colonial America.
