Juvenile Crashes Stolen Vehicle In East Lyme: Police
A juvenile driving a stolen vehicle is accused of fleeing from police and striking a tree.
EAST LYME, CT — A juvenile is accused of fleeing from police in a stolen vehicle and striking a tree, according to police. Police on their way to a call Saturday at 3:45 a.m. spotted two vehicles pulled to the side of the road .
An officer slowed to check if they needed assistance, but the vehicles left quickly. The officer continued to respond to the call and a backup officer spotted the vehicles traveling at a high rate of speed.
The officer caught up to the vehicles and attempted to stop them. Both suspect vehicles sped up, and one attempted to make a turn onto Dean Road but crashed into a tree.

The driver was transported to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London. The vehicle, a 2023 Hyundai Elantra, was reported stolen from Meriden.
The 17-year-old driver from Hartford was arrested and assigned a court date in Hartford Juvenile Court.
