Lyme, Old Lyme and East Lyme's Education Funding Cut by the State
Town officials were recently learned about the reduction, which is a result of the state trying to balance its budget.

East Lyme will have to come up with another $125,644 it hadn’t anticipated to help the state balance the 2017 budget.
East Lyme was slated to receive $7.04 million education funding from the state for 2017. It is now being told in a letter it received last week it will receive $125,644 less – or $6.91 million.

Old Lyme will have to come up with another $77,105 it hadn’t anticipated to help the state balance the 2017 budget.
Old Lyme was slated to receive $324,567 in education funding from the state for 2017. It is now being told in a letter it received last week it will receive $77,105 less – or $247,642.

Lyme will have to come up with another $24,426 it hadn’t anticipated to help the state balance the 2017 budget.
Lyme was slated to receive $87,495 education funding from the state for 2017. It is now being told in a letter it received last week it will receive $24,426 less – or $63,069.
In letter to municipal leaders, Office of Policy and Management Secretary Ben Barnes let municipal leaders know it was exercising its ability to cut $20 million in municipal aid and $30 million in funding for local construction projects.
Barnes said the cuts were necessary for the state to balance its books.
This is on top of earlier cuts made to municipal budgets earlier this year.
