Man, 19, Charged With Pawning Flutes Stolen From Lyme-Old Lyme High School

Police said a 19-year old man has been charged with stealing and pawning flutes​ taken from Lyme-Old Lyme High School.

OLD LYME, CT - Police said a 19-year old man will appear in court Thursday after allegedly stealing and pawning flutes from Lyme-Old Lyme High School, the New London Day reported. Though police refer to the suspect as a student of the school, it is unclear if he is a current or former student.

Police said the school's music teacher reported that a flute had been stolen on May 3, according to the New London Day. The instrument was valued at $1,300. (For more information on this and other neighborhood stories, subscribe to Patch to receive daily newsletters and breaking news alerts.)

Police later learned the flute had been pawned along with three other missing flutes worth about $1,785 total, the New London Day reported. Police said the suspect, 19-year old Brian W. Winters of Old Lyme, turned himself in to state police in August.
