Man Arrested For Driving Away From Traffic Stop: East Lyme Police
Police said a Colchester man was arrested on charges of previously driving away from a traffic stop in East Lyme.

EAST LYME, CT - Police said a Colchester man was arrested Saturday on charges of driving away from a traffic stop in East Lyme in July, the New London Day reported. The suspect had three minors in his car at the time, police said.
Police said officers had previously responded to a Niantic residence on July 31 where James P. Charland, 48, had gotten into an argument with his estranged wife, according to the New London Day. The suspect then threw a cabinet on the floor and broke a window screen before leaving with their two sons and a grandson. Police said officers later stopped the suspect at a motel, but he quickly drove off, according to the New London Day. Charland was turned over to East Lyme police Saturday after being pulled over for an unrelated incident and it became clear there was a warrant out for his arrest.
