Motor Vehicle Stop In East Lyme Leads To Drug Bust: PD

Drugs, scales and packaging materials were found inside the vehicle, according to police.

EAST LYME, CT — Two men are facing charges after a motor vehicle stop Tuesday led to the discovery of drugs, scales and packaging materials, according to police.

Officers pulled the vehicle over on Chesterfield Road. A narcotics detection K-9 did an exterior search, as the occupants were suspected of transporting drugs, police said.

The dog alerted to indicate drugs were inside, so police conducted an interior search. Officers then discovered the drugs, scales and packaging material for distribution, according to police.

Police said one of the two men unsuccessfully attempted to interfere with the dog during the search.

Alex Klose, 21, of East Lyme, was charged with possession of narcotics, possession with intent to sell narcotics, operating a drug factory, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of more than 8 ounces of cannabis. Klose was held on a $15,000 bond.

John Poirier, 19, of Windham, was charged with interfering with a police officer. Poirier was held on a $1,000 bond.
